Julia Chang is a rising senior at Pinole Valley High School. She has been a student of the WCCUSD for the entirety of her upbringing. Julia attended Grant Elementary school in Richmond, California, for four years before transferring to Elizabeth Stewart School in Pinole for the latter portion of her primary schooling. Julia is active throughout her school as well as her community, involving herself in various extracurricular activities, such as the Forensics Speech & Debate team, where she is captain of Lincoln-Douglass debate.
Julia's interests lie beyond argumentation, however. She exemplifies her passion for science through participating in various mathematics and science competitions, including Pioneers in Engineering (a regional robotics competition, hosted by UC Berkeley) and MESA. Julia's engagement in student government has encouraged her to seek means to develop into an able leader. She hopes her participation in the Yale Ivy Scholars Program will assist her in doing just that. Additionally, she looks forward to experiencing the east coast in the hopes of gaining greater insight to post-secondary options offered there.
