Hi everyone! My name is Tanya Krishnakumar and I am an upcoming senior in Hercules High School. I will be part of the group going to Yale to be a part of the Grand Strategies course.
First and foremost, I would like to thank the Ivy League Connection for providing me with such an amazing opportunity. I have always been incredibly interested in college, but the fact that I can actually experience college (and especially in a school like Yale University) is indescribably exciting. I am literally counting down the days till I can go to the East.
Upon meeting me, it becomes obvious that I am a math person - I consider math to be one of my passions. I also like science - physics, especially. My extracurricular activities comprise of various things: I am an active member of my school's badminton team, I have played the violin for almost eight years, I sing Indian classical music, and I teach math in Kumon Learning Center. I am also really interested in politics. I absolutely love to read, too. I can reread the Harry Potter series countless times and not be bored. More seriously speaking, I love The Great Gatsby and Brave New World.
The Grand Strategies program is quite different from my "comfort zone," which makes me all the more enthusiastic. I can't wait to learn more about those who have been influential in shaping this country and how their philosophies are still being employed today. Overall, I believe that this summer program will be one of the best experiences.
